Vintage 4 Speaker Receiver Recommendations - Shop/Garage

Hello,

I'm looking for suggestions for my shop/garage. It's really a shop and I spend a bunch of time in there. It is the standard 2 car set up with an open window and bar that face the pool. I'd like a vintage receiver with a basic A/B speaker switch so I can switch back and forth between the outdoor speakers (facing pool) and indoor speakers (inside garage on shelves).

The reason I say vintage is I hate digital menus. I had an old (repurposed) AV receiver in there for 10 years and trying to punch through menus to adjust balance, bass or treble was a PITA. So one requirement is no digital.

Budget is around $200-$300 as I know anything I put out their will have a limited lifespan due to humidity and the chlorine air around pool seeping in the garage.

As far as power requirements I plan to run outdoor speakers (RSL, etc..) for A and indoor speakers (NHT SuperOne, Polk S15, QAcoustics 3020i or JBL 220). Probably the NHT since they are non-ported and the internals won't rust/rot as fast. Unless I can find an absolute steal on one of the others.

Thanks for any suggestions on a vintage receiver that meets the speaker power requirements and is within budget!!

Get on your local Craigslist “electronics” and do a search for “stereo receiver” or “stereo amplifier.” I found a 1970s era receiver and a 1980s integrated amp, both for under $200, right here in CC, which isn’t that big of a city. Other likely sources are antique stores, Salvation Army, Goodwill and other thrift shops.

@Triumph65

Yep, Craigslist and facebook Market Place too.

Another very good place to look is letgo.com.

There are a lot of great buy's out there if you're patient and willing to look.

I'm very jealous of my brother-in-law. He lives in La Vernia, Texas. It's a very small town just out side of San Antonio. He managed to pick up a pair of vintage JBL4312 monitors for $100, they look almost new, that he uses for his garage.

That is a huge electronics section for a Craigslist city. 4x the size of my nearest city.

@lastplace

Sorry guys, for some reason my notifications were not working on this thread and I missed your replies until I looked back today. My job has gotten very, very busy with the Coronavirus scare.
I do appreciate the Craigslist hookups it’️s just not going to be doable for the foreseeable future. I’️m going to have to stick with online or eBay for now.

I noticed some of the the less expensive receivers cant run a/b consecutively with 8 ohm speakers. It would be nice to find a Bluetooth receiver that can run A&B at same time with 8ohm speakers. All I’️d need other than that is a AM/FM tuner.

Appreciate the help and sorry for the tardy answer.
