I can't argue with that, but a returned or B-stock item adds risk as I see it. Gotta wonder why it was returned or was classified as B-stock.

I now moved my Outlaw Model 5000 for Atmos duty when I added a 7 channel amplifer in the rack. My Atmos channels are more alive and more defined, I am only using 4 channels so there are far more than 120W feeding the 4 atmos speakers.

I have a 7000x feeding my floor speakers and plan on picking up a 5000x for my atmos speakers.

Well. I contacted outlaw about the heat issues l was having with the 7000x. Well they told me I was driving it way to hard. I was turning it up to hear it outside and and in other parts of the house. So I ran a hdmi cable to connect the bedroom receiver to the main receiver. I also ran a set of speakers outside in my carport off of the bedroom receiver (zone 2). Now I wont have the need to turn it up so loud. Though I did buy a AC Infinity t10 fan for the 7000x.

I had to give the fan a test run. I cranked it up for an hour and a half and it kept it cool (before it would over heat in 30mins or so). I know I dont need it now that I have cut the demand down but I figured why not have it for a little extra insurance

The Marantz 7705 and 7000x deal is pretty good!

I drive my 5000 hard as well but my AC infinity will only go up to 83.

Looks like they extended it

"Outlaw Audio Promotion - Valid until June 16th, 2019 at Midnight" according to their site. I wish the model 5000 was on there, I'd totally bite. Have you guys seen them go on sale very often?

So far everything seems to be as it should as far as I can tell. It's my first true home theater setup so I'm a bit in awe as is tho haha. What should I be looking out for? All speakers seem too be working.

Something funny to add... if you type "s" into google, it searches for "s" haha. I was trying to see if it was a known problem.

I am here to ask owners of the Outlaw 5000 or the 7000x amps. Currently I have a Marantz SR6012 with JBL Speakers (listed in my sig) with a stated 89db to 91 db sensitivity. My top channel speakers are Yamaha with a stated 86db sensitivity. I very rarely turn it up past -15 with music, unless I am trying to show off, and -10 with movies. Do you think having one of these amps power my base layer speakers and use the receiver to power the top channel will help with clarity dynamics coming from the speakers? Has anyone had to use the return process in the 30 day guarantee? I may get the 7000x just for that little bit extra and if I can find the right pair of JBL S 36 for a rear channel do that.

TV: LG OLED 65B7A, Receiver: Marantz SR-6012, Blu-Ray Player: LG UBK90, Fronts: JBL S312, Center: JBL S-Center, Surrounds: JBL S38, Top: Yamaha NS-AW1, Subwoofer: 2 PSA S3000i and one PSA XS-30se--- 5.3.4 setup

You will be able to tell the difference when your system is fed more juice! Your system will be more dynamic and you will have more head room

I started with a Marantz 7009 and a cheap 2 channel amp to run a 7.4.2 atoms system. It was crap- the two channel amp, when I would run autocalibrate it had to turn down all my other channels a bunch and max out the cheap amp to level match.

I bought the Outlaw 5000 right when it came out and use that for my first 5 channels and the marantz drives the rear surround and the atmos overheads and the difference it night and day. Atmos came alive at that point. I’ve never looked back. I think the Marantz was struggling to drive everything, and I don’t have particularly hard to drive speakers- Axiom M60 towers, M80 center channel, and M3s all around for surround/atmos.

I put temperature controlled fans on all my HT electronics now just as a precaution. I had one of the infamous Onkyos that were notorious for premature death and recalls, extended repair windows etc. I went through 4 units before onkyo cut me off. My 7009 actually only lasted a year- Marantz replaced it with a 7010. And it’s in a wide open room on a shelf. No rack, no closet, 2ft of air all the way around. So I have a T9 on top of my 5000 and my 7010 now. Cheap insurance.

I just added the Outlaw 5000 to my setup and it's a much cleaner and dynamic sound stage now. I have my 5000 powering the main 5 and the 4 atmos off the X4400H, and none of my speakers off the Outlaw have any sort of hum or buzz. All electronics run off a clean power 6 plug box, so I'm sure that's also an added benefit.

The Outlaw stays cool to the touch at all times even after a few movies at a good volume, great amp, really impressed with it, and it is a tank!!

Outlaw Amps Owners Thread

Edit: thanks for the invite CaptinCrunch

Edit 2: including that mine is B stock. Ordered on Friday and received Monday morning FedEx! Yes.

Just joining this thread since I just received my 5000 this morning and ‘breaking’ it in if there’s such a thing. I’m running a 3.1 system consisting of JBL 530/520 LCR and Hsu VTF2 MK5 running off Denon 4200W. I don’t *need* more headroom for my space but wanted to separate the power function from the AVR as I’ll probably upgrade to something more current down the line. So far the music sounds clean and ‘weighty’ with zero hum or noise whatsoever. As many have said, the amp runs cool. I relocated my external fans back on top of the Denon as it was still hot to the touch with zero power duties (what???).

Questions for folks:

1) Did your amp improve over the few first days/weeks or is this a fable?

2) Shall I rerun Audyssey? I’m guessing yes but feeling kinda lazy atm.

3) What pre/pro are folks running for 4K around here? That’ll be my next move. My 4200 seems fine but it’s kinda dated. I’m thinking Emotiva MC-700.

@tinman143

1) Did your amp improve over the few first days/weeks or is this a fable? I haven't notice any change over the 2 weeks of having it.

2) Shall I rerun Audyssey? I’m guessing yes but feeling kinda lazy atm. Yes, you should run Audyssey again.

3) What pre/pro are folks running for 4K around here? That’ll be my next move. My 4200 seems fine but it’s kinda dated. I’m thinking Emotiva MC-700... I'm super happy with my Denon X4400H

Outlaw Amps Owners Thread

4400 seems like a nice unit. Ok, I will rerun Audy now vs next week.

My 7 Outlaw 2200 Monoblocks now have about 13 years on them with thousand and thousands of hours on them. They have always been hummers at the amp (they have 2 x 20 amp circuits dedicated to them) but I now have a few that are humming out to my rear speakers. I rotated my amps around by placing the worst as my center which is next to the amps with a short cable and the hum went away. All and all, I've always been impressed. Im building a new theater in a new house and adding 4 Atmos ceiling speakers and will be picking up a 5000 for them. Cant go wrong with Outlaw.

Emotiva tends to have issues with releasing Beta level surround processors that only get ironed out (or not) over the span of their model lives rather than mostly Alpha-grade working gear.

I would consider moving to an actual pre-pro, so you don't have the issues of a heat generating amp section with a receiver, and with cleaner op-amp and output stages. I would save up and wait for a model change that gives you full spec HDMI 2.1 ports and ATSC 3.0 audio decoding support. Which one to get depends on whether you want to stick with no more than 7.1.4 immersive processing, or go bigger... 9.1.4 or more Atmos "channels."

Listen up, studios! Dolby Atmos Lite™ print-outs must stop!!

Thanks Dan. Even if I wanted, my ~2700 cu ft area couldn’t support more than a 5.1.4 setup. Will do some more research in pre pro’s. No rush on my side at all.

Reading through here and I see lots of B stock issues vs non issues. Gives me a bit remorse and slight insecurity. Fingers crossed my unit is bug free.
