Question Will Korean TV power and HDMI work in USA?

Hello, I'm interested in purchasing this TV.

LG-LG-CLASSIC-TV-HD-RETRO-DESIGN-32LB640R-80CM-32INCH-42LB640R-106CM

I can't post link but its on q0010.sg site.

I only use Apple TV and some video game consoles that use the old RCA or HDMI connectors. So I don't are if it can't pick up broadcast antenna channels. Will the HDMI and power plugs work the same here in the USA as they would in Korea/Singapore?

The tech support on the q001 site (they ship to USA), said:
The TV works NTSC type only. You need to find proper set-top box to use it in US. Plug for US use is included.

I am assuming "plug for us use" is the inverter...
Trying to understand the NTSC type, it sounds like USA devices have 30fps frame rate and other ones are 24fps..maybe? Does that matter if I'm just plugging in a AppleTV into HDMI?

Well, chances are the power supply for it is a universal 100-240V unit - so you just need the appropriate power cable. Lots of stuff is universal voltage, especially lower powered units like small LCD TVs.

The problem is if it's a PAL unit, it will likely handle the 50Hz resolutions - 576i (instead of 480i), 720p50, 1080p50 etc. it may or may not handle the 60Hz resolutions. It's a tricky situation since DVD/Blu-Ray players have the same issues.

Last time I had an AppleTV, it supported both 50 and 60 Hz resolutions, so it should work.

Even NTSC is no guarantee - North America uses 3.58Mhz for the color burst, while in Asia, they often use 4.43Mhz (Japan, I believe).

Is there a reason to import a tv? At 32 inches, the shipping would make even best buy a good deal... Nevermind if you have a problem and need to ship it all the way back...

The first problem will be the OTA tuner. Different countries use different parts of the spectrum for radio and TV. Channel 4 in the USA is likely not the same frequency or bandwidth as channel 4 in Asia or Europe. Also the digital OTA encoding formats are different. ATSC versus DVB for example.

Next as said above, the unit may only handle 50hz versions of HDTV on HDMI or component input.

The color 3.58/4.43 problem would only be an issue with composite video input. And in addition to the carrier frequency, PAL color encoding is different and totally incompatible with NTSC, however some new TV's may actually handle both PAL and NTSC although these formats are considered obsolete.

The electrical power supply is probably the least of your concerns.

In other words, it matters.
