REW subwoofer alignment Video using MiniDSP complete walk through!

So after helping dozens of guys align subs on a facebook page I moderate peer pressure has won and I made a video on it. The channel was started really just to make this one video but I decided to cover everything. Here's the REW sub alignment walk through for those that may be interested.

I did watch this video and several of your other related videos. Very nicely done! Informative, descriptive, thorough with very good explanations and rationales. I wish this video existed a couple of years ago when I was struggling just to grasp many of the concepts and practical applications of REW. Especially, when I was attempting to integrate more than a standard home theater setup (more than 1 sub being use). Your observation regarding the fact that you have to be able to invest some time and effort for the best results is no understatement. I now really know what you were referring too. The REW software tool is incredible and does make many things (ex. Defining PEQ’s for a particular target level) much easier. However, as with any rather sophisticated tool with many input options, settings and parameters interpreting and focusing on what will give relatively straightforward results takes some skill, practice and time. I think you really did a good job on your pragmatic approach to the subwoofer alignment problem. I totally agree with you that without careful measurements one cannot complete this task with any confidence that it is correct or even matching your own subjective taste!

I am curious about whether you use either the impulse response or step response time output charts for diagnostic interpretation or any tuning decisions? I would like to “see” your final results fromyour system. I would expect them to be fairly nice (text book looking).

I've always aligned using responses because that's how I learned. I also followed this method because Mark Seaton and a few other pro room tuners use responses or rta some of which i know personally. I have recently tried impulse but it's based on one seat and is ignorant to surrounding seat and or rows. It also doesn't force you to confirm placement by looking at responses. I've tried it in my room and it gives me negative summation when I measure it's results.
