New Construction 5.1.2 future 7.1.2 Atmos setup

Hey all I’m having a home built right now and I want to get some wire in the walls and all setup for future 7.1.2im having trouble figuring out what kind of speakers I should get and where to mount them. Right now my current receiver is 7.2 channel Onkyo so I will be doing probably 5.1.2 setup but when I get a new receiver I’m looking at a 9 channel to do 7.1.2 or maybe just 5.1.4 Atmos.
I would greatly appreciate any help building out my setup. Going to have an entertainment center with all my hardware in the nook on the left Front channels will go in there to the sides. Sub will be in the nook also.

My main concern is speaker type for the in wall and surrounds and where to place them with this being an open floor plan. I still want to have great sound. I understand this isn’t going to be reference quality due to space limitations but anything will be a huge step over my current setup.

Thanks,
Thomas

Attached are some pictures
The last one shows the four can lights centered around the room and some other stuff in case it matters.

Another consideration is I have speaker cable run out to a volume control on the back patio for in ceiling speakers there. Eventually I’ll wire some speakers in and use a small two channel amp to run them.

If you can place 2 ear level in-wall or on-wall speakers at the sides of the seating area, one between the pantry and foyer, second opposite between the patio windows, then you are good for 5.x.4 Atmos.
If not, you could do a 7.1 setup with in-ceiling surround speakers.

Being an open floorplan with mostly reflective walls I would strongly consider ditching the entertainment center idea for a clean stretch fabric look with recessed TV and speakers behind the fabric. Use directional speakers and fill the area behind with sound absorbing material.

For in-ceiling speakers look for ones with angled baffle, 30-40deg is ideal. Place them 35-45 deg behind and in front of the listening area.

Do you have any pictures or examples of the entertainment center stretched fabric deal? I have a little one so I would be afraid he would destroy it lol. With the 5.x4 system the wall between the two windows would out the right rear surround just slightly behind where the probably seating position is going to be and the left rear where the pantry and foyer one will go seems like. Will be a bit behind that one. Will it make a difference in terms of quality? Do they make decent in wall speakers that will fit 2x4 walls?

Going to need a budget for the speakers in order to make suggestions.

Budgeting $1k-$1500for the speakers. Can be a bit flexible either way.
