Dolby PLIIZ without side speakers

I have an older Denon receiver that only has PLIIz (no Dolby Atmos options).

Due to room constraints, I can only have Main R and L, Center, Sub, and Height R and L, no side or rear speakers.

Has anyone else attempted this?

Does it sound ok or is it not even possible to set up in a Denon AVR? (Planning on testing this weekend if it is even possible). It would hopefully create a larger front sound stage by sacrificing the right and left side / back speakers....I hope.

Listening in straight mode is one option...two channels and sub.
Any two channel programming can be “expanded/processed” to PLIIZ and out of the additional spkrs.
With most regular TV watching...almost everything, and music from Spotify I’ll be using DSP. Try it.

Although you can have side/rear surround speakers yet no front height/wides, I don't think the opposite is true. The side/rear surround speakers are considered key before you can expand to yet other effect speakers.

You could trick your AVR, ignore any auto calibration routine and force it to think you have 7 speakers hooked up, yet the surround side/rear are actually missing, but this is not sanctioned and you will fundamentally be missing material it sends off to the missing speakers.
