Setup for 4 speakers

I currently have the following setup in my living room (see photos): A Marantz SR5012, 2 Martin Logan 35XT speakers on stands, a Namkamichi BX150, and a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB turntable. I'm looking to get two more speakers and a sub, and need help placing the second pair of speakers.

Photo 1) Main wall

Opposite the main wall:

Open area 90 degrees to right facing the main wall:

Window wall:

I'm looking at Revel M106s or Focal Chora 806 speakers and a Hsu ULS15Mk II sub.

Where should I place the two new speakers?
Any help is appreciated...thanks.

Serge

The sub is easy – front left corner, with parametric EQ to tame the inevitable peak in response.

The speakers – don’t get the question. Where else would they go but at the back of the room?

Equipment List
"A nice mid-fi system," according to an audiophile acquaintance.

Wayne, Sorry for the crappy photoshops; I took a photo of one of the speakers and put them into the photos of the walls.

I thought there are two possible locations. The one one the opposite back wall, which you suggested; would they go out of sync with the fronts since they are facing each other? The current Ikea media cabinet with albums is going away to be replaced by the shorter bookcase that is 36" wide and 79" high seen in the third photo

The other location would be 90° from the main wall where the media unit and speakers are currently located (seen on the far left). One of the photoshopped speakers is behind the chair on the left, the other in front of the railing pole on the right.

New bookcase

What is your opinion on this?

I’d suggest trying the back speakers both ways, at the back wall facing the front speakers, and 90-degrees. There’s no right answer, it’s all in what you like best.

“Out of sync” isn’t an issue with the back speakers facing the front. “Out of sync” is more correctly an issue of time-aligning the back speakers so that they reach the seating at the same time as the fronts. If you don’t do that, the closer speakers will always sound the loudest.

Placing speakers isn't a guessing game. There are standard locations based on Dolby and Auro. You might find my recent post helpful in getting your bearings:

Mixed Atmos & Auro-3D speaker layout

Good luck.

System 1: Samsung Plasma | Denon X4500H | Hypex Ncore NC252MP | Buchardt S400 | Polk LSiM 702 F/X | Heights TBD | Subs TBD Rythmik
System 2: Laptop | NAD T758 v3 | PSB Imagine B
System 3: PC | Micca OriGen G2 | Mackie MR624
