I'd love to have some Pro pics on my HT, but at present it's not worth the cost to just have them.

.
For the most part, that's true; I get most of the photos I use in HToM from the build thread, and I might ask for something specific if needed.

Fantastic presentation of a deserving room, and owner. Rooms like this are a great inspiration to those wanting to take the leap to the big leagues. Congrats!

Scott is nailing it for us AVS'ers! Couldn't ask for a more affable and knowledgable combo in a host! Amazing job to you both.

Congrats to Brad!
Met him on AVS when I was contemplating DIY-SEOS speakers. Brad's a class act (sharing and encouraging), very deserving of being featured here !!

Scott,
Looking forward to more of these HT features. Hopefully you will visit some of our builds in Chicago / upper-mid west?

Brad Horstkotte likes to build things. As an accomplished woodworker, he enjoys making electric guitars of his own fanciful designs, and he did not hesitate to build an entire home theater in one half of a four-car garage behind his house in Los Angeles, CA. Not only did he finish the room by himself after contractors installed the basic framing, he also built the front speakers and subwoofers. Talk about DIY!

I visited Brad in his home theater to talk about the process and check out the result, which is mighty impressive. Here's my interview with Brad, along with images from the build and the finished room:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAM6Lzqzqw4

Clearly, Brad is a man on a mission to build a high-performance home theater with his own hands, and he has succeeded beautifully. Now, his biggest challenge is tearing himself away to go to work each morning—which is made possible, no doubt, by the knowledge that he will return in the evening to enjoy more movies in his masterpiece build.

For much more detail about how Brad's home theater came together, check out the build thread here.

If you'd like your home theater considered for HT of the Month, PM me with the details and a link to your build thread if available.

Well done sir. I really like the ceiling/lighting in your room. One thing I would like to know in more of these HTotM interviews is budget. I can't imaging every person would be willing to share that information with strangers, but I find budget very fascinating for many reasons.

Again, Mr. Horstkotte, well done. I bet it's a great feeling to see guest reactions after seeing that room for their first time.

You have to drive out to Wisconsin and do one with me now... J/King.... (or am I) Bwahahahahaha!

Awesome DIY work! Congratulations on making the AVS HTotM.

I also loved the stonework on the outside.

Your comments on screen ration prompted me to re-evaluate my understanding for this topic. Thanks, I need to do more reading.

Brad and Scott - that was a great informative, professional presentation, not too long, not too short. Thanks!

Congratulations Brad on HTOM!! Very well-deserved recognition. I've always really liked the elegant simplicity of your entire design, especially the columns. It was also nice to finally know how to pronounce your last name correctly!!!

Scott - I'll echo the sentiments of others that the video interview and tour is something we all would like to see as an integral part of this monthly recognition. Soooo much better than a handful of quotes contained in the article. If I were to make one request, it would be the inclusion of a construction photo slide deck with captions to thumb through without creating a huge picture embed in the initial post. I know the video contained a number of pictures, but it's always nice to run through an album for us construction junkies.

I completely know what he means when your 95% finished and stop because you start watching movies and gaming. I still have a couple square holes in my ceiling that I haven't patched up yet and have my speakers laying on my floor when I planned on wall mounting . Breaking my wrist a couple months after didn't help either.

One of the first theaters that I followed from start to finish on AVS. I had been into surround sound and audio and all that crap for years but this build was my first inspiration for a true dedicated home theater. Congrats Brad!
