That's actually a very good question. The signup seems to move around.
@imagic - Do you have a direct link for newsletter signups?

I am as surprised as anyone to discover that there's no obvious link... I have put in a request and will update as soon as I know.

^ I'm not even sure that's it anymore because you sign up through Threadloom & the newsletters aren't monthly.

It used to be you could simply log out and a newsletter subscription popup would appear after a few seconds but I'm no longer seeing that option either.

I finally got it to load by opening a new AVS page in a private Firefox window (so I wasn't logged in) then clicking on any forum & waiting. But there really needs to be a direct link...

Okay, a quick update…

The next two Home Theater of the Month winners were actually selected over a year ago by Scott Wilkinson, when he was editor of the site. I want to make sure these selections are featured, so that’s what you’ll see for the next two winners. I’ll draw from new entries for winners in 2020 and beyond, but in fairness I want to make sure these patient members who were chosen get their due first.

And also I’m looking at choosing a Home Theater of the Decade, since the ole’ calendar is about to flip the odometer to 2020. I’m pretty sure folks here know what the likely winner is but let's just pretend there's some element of surprise to it anyhow.

I'll just say it... future congrats to Rob Hahn and KYDG. The single most impressive residential home theater experience I've ever had, bar-none. His theater should be called the "Soul Crusher" because if the fact you will never own a comparable theater isn't enough to crush your soul, the sixteen high-powered 24" subs should easily finish the job.

I think we should all create a Kickstarter campaign to hire a bunch of video editors to put together all of Rob's footage for the most epic of construction time-lapse theater builds there's ever been...I'd pay money to see that video.

From what I have seen on here Rob Hahn's Home Theater blows most commercial theaters away IMO. I am glad to see this is back.

Most good dedicated HTs blow away most commercial theaters. No listening to other people whispering to each other, more comfortable seats, better acoustics, no bubblegum on the floor, no distracting Exit signs, you can pause the movie to go to the bathroom, etc. I think I've gone to a movie theater about 4-5 times in the last 10 years or so.

I'm with you, I go incredibly rarely & remember exactly what I saw in the last decade. I saw the following in commercial theaters on a purchased ticket: Avatar (IMAX 3D), Iron Man III (IMAX 3D), Creed (2D) because I live in Philly, Deadpool (Dolby Cinema) and Dunkirk (IMAX Film).

My wife and I usually only go to the big action movies and to either a Dolby Cinema, IMAX or the new theater close to us that has DTS-X surround and giant screens with nice heated leather recliners. One of the theater's has viewing of 270 degrees at times. Seen Aquaman and Spider Man in it. I currently only have 5.1, but like it better then a regular theater by far.

I think I've been to a commercial theater maybe 3 or 4 times in the last 6 years - and all but one of those occasions were when visiting my grandchildren to go see children's movies. The crowds, noise, sticky floors, mediocre (at best) sound systems, constant talking and playing with cell phones by guests during the movie. Buy the tickets, popcorn and snacks for two and spend more than twice what it cost to buy the HDR version 3 months later. No thank you.

Some guys are too modest to submit their own theater. Maybe we need to consider members nominating other members' theaters.

Greetings,

Below is the link to my complete H/T as it is today and with it's most recent Up-Dates.
This would be I guess a small H/T compared to what I have seen on Posts on this Thread.
Maybe a few members might enjoy seeing in comparison to the Multi-Million dollars H/T systems a H/T they could also possibly afford.

tigerhonaker's Home Theater phase #1 of being Up-Dated August 2018 to 8-24-2019 ...

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/15-ge...st-2018-a.html

The next addition will be Atmos with 6-overhead ceiling speakers that I have mentioned in my build thread.

Bluer101,

Thanks for dropping by and taking a look at it.

Well by small I was actually saying that based on the Multi-Million dollar ones on AVS.

Honestly I really love it as well as my wife of plus-35 years and all guests that have seen it in person over the years.

It's actually what I would term as Excellent for both Audio & Video.

Regards,
Terry

Up-Date,
I just took a look at your Thread on your H/T.
It looks great to me buddy.
