Sorry if this question has been asked. I searched quite a while but didn't find the exact answer I need.

I have a Yamaha RX-V650 receiver that has remote in/out jacks. The manual describes how to use these to control zone 2.

I have an IR repeater / extender unit and I can control the basic functions of the Yamaha by placing the IR emitter on the front of the receiver. I can then control the unit with the cabinet doors closed.

Can I instead directly connect the IR repeater unit with the remote in / out receiver using a male/male 3.5 connector?

I am not trying to use the zone 2 feature.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes use the wired input, gives a better control option over an emitter

should be a Mono mini to mono mini 3.5mm cable
