It would be nice if Logitech would actually give the length of this device in their specs so I could figure out if I need to have an extender. Does someone have the approximate length? Does any IR blaster work with the hub or do I need to use the specific Logitech blaster?

So I connected one of the two 3.5 mm outputs to the receiver portion of an IR repeater block. That essentially shut down the IR repeater.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

I have other questions but this seems like a good spot to start.

Thanks.

Extending Harmony IR mini blasters

The receiver portion of the IR block is for a IR receiver. The 3 conductor 3.5mm plug on a IR receiver is IR, +V and GND. You probably shorted out +V to GND.

I cut off the plug and stripped the ends of the hub output and attached the individual wires to a xantech ir repeater. It works great.

I do not recall the wiring layout of the hub output, but I found it online somewhere, ie. color of wire and which was ground, etc.

For anyone interested in extending the IR blasters, this item from Amazon works to extend over Cat5e/6:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I tried extending over 50ft with a 3.5mm mono cable like the OP and the signal was too weak to be worthwhile.

Hope this helps someone out.
