URC debuted it in their booth at Cedia recently (i didn't go), but it hasn't been released for sale yet.

I've already asked one of my CI customers to bring one to the office when he gets them in stock so i can play with it - i'm very interested in this one

I'm addicted . . . .

Check out this picture of the MX-990 on Remote Central. The number buttons are black and not silver. I believe this is how the production models will ship.

I really like the looks of this remote. I'm looking forward to the hands-on reviews once it is released.

Edit - i moved this post from the MX-780/MX-890 thread to this dedicated MX-990 thread . . . . .

Edit: Check out this picture of the MX-990 on Remote Central and compare it to the picture in Randy's post. The remote as shown at Cedia has black buttons. I think the black buttons make the remote even better looking.
My picture is apparently a computer rendering, but your Cedia picture is the real deal. I really like the look of this remote !

It kinda looks like it might be even thinner than the MX-890?

Here's a short YouTube video highlighting the MX-990 at Cedia:

The info tag on the display table indicates that it has an OLED screen (which degrades and goes dim on the MX-780 and R40), but that has to be a mis-print as all other sites say it's LCD (including URC's site).

Says it will be released 4th quarter 2015 and will retail for $549

Ha ha i was going to say the same thing in my post but forgot - i'd like to see the side profile and how wafer-thin it is.

I'm so happy with my MX-890 that i probably wouldn't bother getting the 990, but it would be nice to have all my 8 devices on page 1 of that bigger Main Screen.....

Must....Resist....

It seems like all the functionality is the same as the 980 which I have.
I want to setup some serial commands with it and I believe the 980 is the only that can be used in that way with my MSC-400???

I was previously looking at the MX-1200 and now can't decide between the two other than the fact that this one is much newer.

The MX-1200 is a touch screen vs this one which uses hard buttons next to the display. The MX-1200 offers a lot more flexibility on the screen because you can put the buttons wherever you want as opposed to the 2x4 grid enforced by the MX-990. On the other hand, the hard buttons are easier to press than the touch screen.

To me, unless your MX-980 is no longer working properly I am not sure the upgrade to the MX-990 would be worth it.

I am not sure I am following your MSC-400 comment.

Any remote in the Complete Control lineup can send serial commands via the MSC-400. The MSC-400 is just receiving an RF command from the remote. The 990 is basically an upgraded 980.

Enjoy!

So far the MX-990 is not showing available on URC's website but i did find one mention there that said: "Product available in early 2016. "

And they have recently added a preliminary PDF cut sheet for the MX-990:

I have a 980 that I purchased from SRC right after it came out and it has been a very good remote. But when we completed the HT, I tried an 890 I had picked up and I have to say, I have never looked back. It has all the power I need in terms of variables and If/Then's and the form factor blows the 980 away. It is so much easier to hold and use. The colored buttons will help the 990, but reaching up to those 8 slots is still awkward.

Please do not send me PM's asking for software! You will not get it.

Today's CCP update added the MX-990 to the menu. The release date for the remote must be very close.

What does that mean, you can't use CCP for to MX-990?

I don't think URC removed it from my CCP. I forgot I did a System Restore on my computer yesterday back to the day before I got the CCP update and that is why it's missing from my computer.

Edit: It was a corruption in my CCP program caused by the System Restore that prevented the CCP from updating properly. Once I reinstalled CCP the MX-990 showed up after the update.

My MX-990 was shipped on Friday. I should have it on Thursday.

Is there a repository of CCP files for 980s? I'd like to see how others have done some of the programming.

I need to play around with maybe replacing my 980 with a 990. What are the steps for importing a 980 file into a new 990 template in CCP?

This seems to work:
* Create a new file, choosing "Open existing file as a template" and selecting your existing file with a 980 in it.
* In System Designer, right-click on the room and choose "Add model"
* Select MX-990 and click "Add"
* In the Model Properties dialog's Option frame, choose 'Copy' and select your 980 from the drop-down

All,
I'm a newbie, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here.

I received my 990 on Friday, haven't had any time to program it. But I must say it is a very nice looking remote. The look and feel is top notch, especially the backlighting on the buttons. I turned down the display brightness and button brightness to 20% so it wouldn't be blinding in a darkened HT.

I don't know if there are any on AVSForum, but Remote Central has a couple. Go to their search page at http://files.remotecentral.com/search/urcg.html and put 'mx-980' in the 'Find' text box, selecting the 'all text' option and 'Look in all areas.' I tried a 2 of them, they were both RCF files. So, you need to add a new remote to your setup, select 'existing', and then change the file type to .rcf when browsing for the file.

I'm new to CCP, and won't have a lot of time to figure it out in the next couple weeks, so hoping the sample files prove helpful. So far, CCP is much nicer than the Philips Pronto software was. It's also easier to program a hard button remote than figuring out a practical touch screen layout.

Thanks

At first that seemed to only copy over my "listen" stuff from the 980 but not any of the "watch" stuff. I then right clicked on the 990 under model designer and chose "show second main page group" which made listen & watch into main 1 & main 2. However for some reason playing with the main and page buttons in the simulator doesn't seem to ever toggle from main 1 to main 2 at all.

I had that same issue. I think page 2 shows up as hidden as one of its properties so the remote doesn't navigate to it. If you uncheck that it may work.
