I am using the standard version and have no issues so far. You do have to buy the app for your device.

I am still in the beginning stages but have had good success so far. Wish I were farther along but I do have a job.

So far the interface seems much more solid that iRule. I get a lot of slow or double responses with iRule.

I see the files. There are some png files but they are the ones I imported. Most are the dci files that are the demopad files. Am I missing something?

Thanks guys. I’m going to start once I getcthe motivation to start. I haven’t touched my design for years now except for minor changes so the thought of doing the whole thing again is daunting. Plus not knowing what I’m doing yet.

Question Subpages

Started messing with subpages today but ran into a wall. I think I know what they do but having no real luck getting them to work. I can get them onto the page but it doesn't load correctly onto the app and how do you control them?

Thx

I only use my own graphics so have no experience with the dci files. You could try changing the file suffix from .dci to .png and see if you can edit it.

So I decided to check this out and went to the folders where Demopad stores their downloaded graphics.

First thing - all the Free graphics are .png, and all the Pro graphics are .dci.

Tried changing the dci to png but no luck.

They've obviously encrypted their Pro graphics.

If you haven't already seen it, this explains subpages pretty well - Subpages.

The only other thing I can suggest is -
- import the image you want to edit into Demopad
- use Demopad's in-built image scaling to blow it up larger
- take a screen shot and save to .bmp
- import into your editing software of choice

That did it! Cooking with gas now.

Had to do a little work with Flags/Variables to get it to work like I wanted but needed to figure that out anyway.

Thanks again!

Next question, is there away to copy/paste actions?

Example would be having buttons set up to select a TV channel. Right now I have to manual select each action and associated delays. Select 8, then 0, then 3, then "OK" and then set a .2 delay between each command. It would be nice to be able to past the action series into the button then edit as needed.

Geez time flies ... can't believe that this was so long ago and I'm only just getting back to it !

First a few other updates ... changed processor to a Marantz 7704 so all the work we did earlier on the D+M volume controls saved me a heap of time.

I've also replaced my HTPC which died, with a little Intel NUC, and ditched my old Popcorn Hour A400, so I'm now using Kodi on the NUC for streaming. This obviously makes EG that much more important as I'll use it to control Kodi.

Following your instructions above (which saved me a lot of time ) I've got commands from Demopad showing up in the EG log column. I've also added the XBMC2 plugin.

I'm about to research how I associate the logged commands to the XBMC commands. Any tips would be greatly appreciated !!!

Cheers,

I have the pro version and wonder if its different then non pro, but when you open the action editor of a button, add your actions then on the right side next to the delete button I have a copy button. This will copy all your actions for that button. Open the editor for another button and click on paste button. I think this is what your asking for.

Cheers,
Why don't you just control KODI from DemoPad. When I was using KODI, I had it all working from DemoPad. With all feedback working and even a progress slider. I switched to jRiver. Works so well, yes you do need a PC but it handles 4k HDR. Its the only PC media center that will switch my TV to HDR and then back automatically. It also handles audio formats such as ATMOS and TrueHD. Also has very good IP protocol and well documented. Yes its not free but once you buy in you get upgrades for half price.

That is what I was asking. And that is not on the non-pro version. Oh well...

New question... "Display message dialog"

This would seem simple but I cant seem to make any thing happen. I guess I could use subpages but that seems overkill. Any thoughts? Thx

If I understand you, I think what your looking for would be too add a text block to a page. You could give a Dynamic Label if you want to change what the message says. Then expand the Reveal option across the top of the page. Then assign a Flag, then from the Transition drop down menus select Appear. So now every time you turn the Flag ON it will appear, Turn Flag OFF and it will disappear. You could then have a button turn the flag on or off, or a page load or use feedback to turn it on or off. You can do this with Text, Buttons and or Graphics.

Must admit I didn't even look at JRiver , but right now I'm finding that Kodi does everything I need. The latest version does 4K, HDR, Atmos and DTS:X. I really only use it for streaming my local concert disc rips so not really pushing it very hard. The EG XBMC2 plugin works really well and does everything I need. I'm also using the Kodi Remote app on my iPad in conjunction with Demopad and switching back and forth works well.

Does JRiver come with any sort of companion app ?

Cheers,

Cheers,
jRiver does have some companion apps, KODI on the PC does not handle HDR unless the latest version came out a few weeks ago. I will look at it. So I assuming you use apps to surf through movie jackets to launch movies then jump back to DemoPad to control. So what I did was all from with in DemoPad. The KODI AWX web interface works very well in DemoPad. So I can surf through movies jackets, launch the movie. Basically I had a button on my KODI layout that takes me to the web interface page in Demo Pad. Then when KODI starts playing the feedback takes me back to the control page where I displayed playback info including a working progress slider and the movie cover art. I still have it backed up I can send it to you.

Thanks for the offer but no need. I have a button in Demopad which switches to the Kodi remote app and then iOS puts the return link in the top left of the Kodi remote page so it's all pretty seamless.

I've also just got feedback from EG working and guess who was in the thread I used at GetSatisfaction:iRule from 5 years ago !!

ok i got questions:

1. is how do i know the size of the screen? is it edge to edge when i select ipad project create?

2. the buttons. in irule we had that grid. so nice for spacing. when i am looking at other projects there is alot of overlapping going on. how do you know if u are lined up? just back and forth loading the build to the ipad and tweaking?

3. the tree layout on the left.

so my home page will be called a home page. i add a button for a jump to say my tv page which will have all my actions for my tv setup. is that a sub page? or what? i see something called sub panels but don't know what they really are. i pulled up the prebuilt ones but i ca't figure out what the heck is going on compared to when i learned with the irule sample and built from there.

4. codes. i'm grabbing from global cache tower code. they send the email with each code. so do i have to just start copy and paste 1 by 1 or is thier a way to bring it in as one ice list. does the builder have built in ir codes?
thanks!

and if i do have to copy and paste i forgot which part i take? example below from email.

function, code1, hexcode1, code2, hexcode2

1. If does adjust to the size of the device, or at least that how I understand it. I selected an iPad but use in onto an iPad mini and it scaled fine. You need to set the size of the screen on the Project settings tab on top of the builder under resize project . If your still having issues you can try turning on and off Auto Size on the same tab.

2. On the Page Settings Tab there is an option to turn on and off a grid. I just use the X,Y numbers on the Object properties tab. There is a bit of learning curves on alignment. To created many times, had to upload it to the iPad and go back to adjust a bit.

3. The really isn't a home page per say, the first page you create will be the first page the app loads too when launched, I have not figured out how to change that.

4. Think as sub pages as draws. Just have a lot more options. You can create your project different ways, for example I have what I will call my master page, which displays volume control, navigation buttons, IE launch DirecTV. Then I load sub pages to display the devices buttons. Other option is you can have separate pages for each device/activities and can use sub pages to display common buttons like volume, that way you don't have to add the same commonly used buttons over and over again. Plus if you make changes to those buttons it will be changed on all your pages at once and not have to go to each page to make those changes.

OK this is all starting to make a little more sense to me now

Any help on how I handled the codes coming out of the global cash a database I forgot what the copy and what not to copy

Also like I said do I have to add them one at a time or could I just copy and paste every one of them to a text file and then it does the work for me I just didn’t understand that either

Also I forgot to ask and I rule we could have say a TV page and then swipe to the left and it would bring up a second page and the third and the fourth and fifth for channel icons or whatever can we do the same thing on this or do I have to keep doing behind the link to another page

Global Cache codes: It's from the sendir and through the second 3058 - everything in the second set of quote marks. Also, you will need to change the 1:1 after the sendir to match the module and port of what you are plugged into.

If you have a IR device that not in there data base, then you would have to add each one to your build. You could see if some one posted there IR codes on the DemoPad Forums. DL them and import them.

You can add swipe controls to an object, not to an entire page like iRule did. I supposed you could add an image and set it to the back and place other buttons on top of it if you wanted larger areas for swiping. Once you added an abject to your page select the object and go to the "Object Properties" tab on the top of the page, go to the "Action" and select the top action, labeled "Gestures Actions". There you could set actions to set Flags or Jump to a page.

I have found that if you take the info that global cache tower sends via e-mail (all commands), paste it into Notepad and save as a .txt file, you can directly import the commands.

I suggest setting up specific device folders and adding a specific device prefix so you don't accidentally over-write commands. (been there done that )

Also, as jtjjen notes above you will need to change the 1:1 after the sendir to match the module and port of what you are plugged into. I do this with the "find and replace all" command. Super quick an easy.
