SONY XBR-65X900F and Harmony One

just got this new sony tv and using it with Onkyo AVR. When i power on with my Watch TV, the AVR first goes to TV (tho it's set for Cab/Sat input) and on the TV the speakers switch back and forth from internal speakers to external speakers. Everything ends up correct - without HELP - but it goes thru this back/forth for both the input and the speakers. The TV is set for external speakers but it still does this switching. I've tried powering on in different order (AVR first), changed and extended delays. It's also set on ARC - i set CEC on AVR to off but then i lose my sound thru the AVR. any ideas? thank you!

I have the same Sony tv along with two other Sony TVs all with Harmony Elite remotes and they all do the same thing...well except for the bedroom tv as it is not connected to a sound system.

That’s always bothered me also the way it boots up. Like you said it does ultimately end up going to the correct input and external speakers but it’s weird how it changes things around.

I’m thinking it has something to do with the ARC having to be on and the tv runs through a bunch changes to get to where it needs to be.

I haven’t tried turning off ARC and HDMI-CEC and running a optical cable for sound for the smart tv features.

If you give that a try and let me know how it works I’d probably go that route also but I do. It feel like testing my tv as it’s a 75” and not fun to try to change things by yourself.

Receiver : Pioneer Elite SC-LX701
Main & Center Speakers : Phase Technology PC 3.5, & Surrounds
Amplifiers : Emotiva UPA-1 Monoblocks, SVS SB3000 Subwoofer
MonsterPower HTS5100, Harmony Elite Remote
TV & Sources: Sony 75” 900F, Bluesound Node 2, Xbox One & Apple TV4K
