Anyone Use Alexa to control Home Theater?

Hi, is anyone using Alexa to control home theater? Im looking at the amazon fire cube. My receiver says it supports Alexa, but my projector likely does not. Is there a way to get it to work with the projector (Optoma 1080HDR39).

Id like to automate the AVR/Projector turning on and switching ports.

Optoma has a couple of projectors that are Alexa and Google Assistant ready. (Optoma UHD51A 4K HDR, Optoma UHL55 4K LED HDR)

But, since you have a projector and likely do not wish to replace it you could consider the addition of a Broadlink IR Remote. It would need to be placed in proximity to the projector in order to send an IR signal to turn on the projector. You can set up a profile within the Broadlink app on your phone and then enable and link the Alexa Skill. You can use the remote from the Optoma projector to teach the IR commands to the Broadlink profile you set up. With the Alexa skill enabled you can then include Broadlink/Optoma IR commands within an Alexa routine to turn on the projector along with any commands you send to your AVR receiver.

Link below to Broadlink IR Remote. You can normally find them on Amazon for $20 - $25. It can control a number of appliances that use IR remotes.

I have Alexa upstairs with a small stereo system that plays fairly soft music most of the time. Alexa does not respond correctly some of the time and depends on the music playing. Don't see it working most of the time in the home theater. For me a good programmable remote (URC MX-980) is much easier to use. Start up, shut down, breaks, device selection, etc. all done with macros requiring only one button push for each activity.
