75" TV at 6-7 feet too big?

Hey all,

So I'm considering a TV upgrade in the not-too-distant future. I've been using a 65" and I'm pretty happy with the size, though it would be possible for me to go up to 75".

My viewing distance for TV and movies is typically 8-9 feet, which I think 75" would be fine for. However, when I game (casual...mostly single player titles), I have a gaming chair I use, and it's placed 6-7 feet from the TV instead. I'm a bit concerned as far as seeing everything on-screen, etc. when sitting that close for gaming.

In your opinion, is 75" going to be too big for that distance?

Thanks for any advice!

While the THX standard says you're too close, I personally game on a 65" TV from 7ft away, its perfectly comfortable for me, but there are times I catch myself leaning forward a bit. So I could get even closer if I wanted.

I sit just under 7' from a 75" and if I could, I'd go bigger. Xbox One X looks amazing. PS4 Pro does as well. You adjust to the size. I used to game on a 120" projector from 10.5'. that was intense!

Awesome - thanks all. I've decided I'll likely go for it in the near future. =)

Definitely not too close. Particularly if you end up playing anything with text you'll appreciate it being relatively large. It's a pain when you have to strain to read the UI.
