Game looks awful

I have a Hisense 40 inch 1080p h4 series 2019 is the year.

I know its a cheap tv but my games look awful. By chance does anyone have this tv? Can anyone let me know what picture settings they use for gaming?

Is this your TV? It's only 768p. Rtings has very few settings options since they say the TV cannot be calibrated.

Yes it is. I have been playing the xbox on 1080p. So its been upscaling and making the picture look bad? Would it be best to turn the xbox to 720p?

Cons list on rtings site says:

Very limiting 768p resolution
Bad contrast and bad black uniformity
Can't get very bright

These all add up to a poor image for gaming on. For the price of that TV you could have gotten a used Plasma TV of similar or even larger size, from around 2010-2013 (Samsung/Panasonic brands) that would have blown the Hisense out of the water in picture quality and motion handling, not to mention most from the year range I shared were native 1080p. If you can find one locally and are still in the return window then my advice is to take back the Hisense and get a used plasma TV.
