    Hi John,

I am and have been super curious about the synthesis line and you seem to know the most. It is way way out of my budget but I was wondering (feel free to point me to a thread) why they are so expensive and if there is anything very similar to the line for the home consumer in the jbl line. I have a nice 25X19 dedicated thater space and am considering going inwall if I have the depth. I have always loved jbl and am wondering what is close to the synthesis level and how much different the jbl lines are. Thanks so much

Hi John, I curious of your thought on building a system. What will give better sound in my poor room, it’s a big open kitchen living dining area 1200 sq ft. the tv / listening area maybe 400 sq ft viewing listening distance of 10 ft. all tile with some rugs. Would it be better to start with a JBL spd75 with c208 ,m126be L&R and 763l for surrounds and 4 Revel b112 subs or something like a anthem AVm 60 with Revel Salons2 and Voice2 a single Rhythm2 and the 763ls ? From what I’ve read it seems that even though counter intuitive to gettin the biggest best lcr speakers the best processor with multiple subs and competent LCR might give better sound. Your thoughts?

Hi John , can you sell JBL ? If so what’s the price for I think it’s the spd 75 ? The processor with the Trinnov processor ? The one with the lowest channel count.
    Best, Leonard

Hi John, When you were present at revel m16 test, which kef speaker was it against?
I am confused between revel m16 for $1225 and kef ls50 for $1350. These are Indian prices..

Found both equally good. Is Kef ls50 worth extra $125?

    Hi John,

I live out in Parker and I heard from some other board members that you were a reputable Anthem dealer. I'm looking at purchasing an Anthem AVM-60. Could you send me a price quote and any information on your return policy. If it's easier to communicate via email, my address is ira.bargon@gmail.com.

    Thanks,
    Ira

    Hi Tom!

Thanks for your comments and great to meet you! I'm very happy to hear that I come across as centered and no nonsense, since that is my intent.

My opinion - which is for the most part backed up by all the controlled scientific research that has been done - is that electronics are for the most part neutral. I just got done writing quite a bit about this very subject in the M2 thread:

To answer your question directly, I am not surprised you heard no difference between the Emotiva, the Marantz, and the MacIntosh. IMO, most of the differences people claim to hear are the result of expectation and confirmation bias. In blind listening tests, differences tend to disappear. So for me, assuming that the amp in question is well designed and competently executed, the differences are going to be in raw power output and how well they handle the load of the speaker.

    John,
I've been following your posts on the Revel thread. You seem to have a centered, no nonsense approach to sound! I am curious of your opinion, (off the record!) with the Revel 208's is there any sound quality difference going from the Emotiva to a higher priced amp? (I am satisfied with my current set up and am not looking to spend more money.)

The reason I ask, when I purchased the speakers 3 years ago, the dealer auditioned them on an expensive Macintosh amp. Although it's not true A/B testing, I can't really tell the difference between the Macintosh, my Marantz receiver, and the Emotiva. I've always wondered if spending thousands of dollars on amps is just chasing hugely diminishing returns?!

BTW, I work as an editor (and sometimes director) on the TV show Blue Bloods on CBS.

    Thanks,
    Tom
