    Where are you?

    Alive I hope.

Seems a terrible way to say it.....but something seems amiss.

Just a bit more than concerned.

    Hi Ftoast

Sorry for the radio silence, work just took over life. I hope you and your family had a good Christmas and happy holidays.

I am going to go with your second recommendation -> 36oz flat-grey ("Seal Grey" or "OONN 25/000") and 9oz Rustoleum Metallic Accents sterling silver. Let me know if my understanding is correct plus would greatly appreciate your help on the questions below

    a) do i mix the grey and the metallic accent sterling silver at home or at lowes. If at home, any quick and dirty tricks
    b) will 45 oz of mix (36 oz flat + 9 oz accent) be enough for one coat for 135" screen. Should i do two coats?
    c) i had seen a video some where on how to roll, i will try to find and review it again, but if i remember the key was not to put too much pressure on the roller against the wall and just roll it with min pressure

Once again, thanks so much for you help and a very happy and a prosperous new year to you and your family

    best regards

    Tarun

First of all thank you for all the work you've done and share.
I'm from Argentina and need to paint a new screen, planning on going this route "quart of metallic-"untinted" mixed with 15oz flat-grey tinted "Grey Tabby" is my current favorite darker mix"

but since a friend of mine is traveling to the states I'll only ask him for 1 ingredient, you say that using Rust-Oleum Metallic Sterling Silver you have to use 1/8 to the above mix if I understand correctly so it would be 4oz metallic sterling silver and 15oz flat-grey tabby?

And for the grey tabby I'll try to mix something from here, since is a more common paint I guess.

    Thanks

    Hi ftoast,

I came across your paint mixtures and I'm trying to find the best mixture for my situation. I have an Epson 2045 and I'm shooting for around a 98" inch screen. It will be in a basement with no ambient light but I do have dimmable lighting. I'm looking for the best black levels without sacrificing color and 3D functionality. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!!

I'm afraid I'll have to decline shipping anything, BUT there may be a local option that could work just as well.
Do you have any dark or tint-able water-based metallic paints that are available through hobby/craft stores or hardware/department stores or online?

If I remember, AAA-fine is available online to Australia and I know others have used that in roll-on mixes before. It'd be like making a very dark BlackWidow mix.

    Hi Ftoast,

The paints you use are not available in Australia. would you (for a fee) be prepared to buy them and ship to me? I am looking to build a 120 inch 16:9 screen. I was thinking of using Sintra as a substrate. do you know whether it can be rolled onto? I know MisMan uses it a lot for spraying not sure whether it works for rolling though. Thanks for all your efforts to date.

    Regards,

    Paul

    I currently own an Aaxa P300, a Barco Data 808s, an LG PA75u and a Sony MP-CL1.
The giant crt Barco doesn't get used often.
I've owned quite a few business and inexpensive HT lamp-based and LED models on the way, but these are the ones I liked enough to keep.

The P300 looks great in the dark and the LG works well during the day and has excellent, smooth, bright 3D. The Sony is too dim for much over 80"-90" but has amazingly deep blacks.

    Thanks for the tip.
