Bill all of my speakers were removed from operating commercial movie theatres, ie AMC, Regal, etc. All of my processing equipment also was used in commercial theatres so my Dolby CP650 digital processor does all the work for things like bass management, etc. My 8330 are at ceiling height and spaced according to standard commercial theatre specs but I forget the formula used to dictate the spacing.
With regard to the "tune up" in my room it was done by the senior sound tech from Boston Light and Sound. He used several computers and microphones with computer programs used by Dolby Labs. I watched him for 2 hours adjust amps, etc but didn't really understand all of what he was doing. Its sounds as good as most commercial theatres and that's what matters to me. I don't get involved in the "acoustic details" of the amps and speakers. I've never really understood all of that.

    Second part
Do you use a receiver for with bass management? Do you cut off the bass from the 3678's above their tuned box frequency or let them go full range? My 4343's and rear L-300's are port tuned at 27 cps. Should I let them go full range or cut them off high enough to avoid any interference phase wise from my sealed subs?
I get mixed answers on that. Some say set a cutoff to 60 or 80 cps and roll on the subs there. Others say use them full range to get more uniform room sound in the under 100 cps realm.

What is actually in the recording for the side surround content as far as impact/punch/slam/attack or whatever you call such impact sound effects? Is it really mostly only the front three speakers or is that because most think it is only there so do not invest in really great surrounds since they only give "surrounded immersion".

"My surrounds are 4 JBL 8330s".

I have to split this into two messages.
    Questions for you.
How does the sound range (volume and bandwidth) of these side surrounds compare with what you get from the front 6678's?

Do you have the 8330's high on the wall or closer to ear height? Do you use them 4 on the side for fill or two at the rear.

I thought that the 2206 being a 95 dB efficient 600 watt capable 4 inch voice coil midbass driver ([email protected] cps in ported enclosure) with a JBL compression driver above 800 to 1200 cps would give me max attack. Is it not needed?
