I have the little guys, the EM ESLs.

I've listened extensively to the entire product line except the ESL-X. I've used ESLs in at least one of my systems for 60 years and have had some or another ML products since 1982 from CLSs to the 1,900lb Statements. My little ones in a smallish 16 x19' room will do most of the tricks the bigger ones will although those scale bigger.

The larger models would likely be even more on a PITA to setup in my small room. I rarely ever hear these setup to get the best out of them.

Got an error message that said the email is too long. Part two coming up

Hello, I've been lurking in the Martin Logan thread for a couple days and need a little bit of advice on the ESl speakers. If you don't mind me asking which ones do you own?
I just purchased the ESl and waiting for a delivery. One more question if you don't mind do you know how much better the ESl x compared to the ESl. I wasn't able to audition the ESl x since there are none around me for 90 miles. Is the price difference vs better performance worth the price tag.

    Thanks for any insight,
    Brian

Thanks. Parts express is one vendor I was looking at regarding the sub. Didn't think of them regarding cables,

    Larry,

Very interesting history of your speakers. Very familiar actually as I've had ESL 57s, KLH9s, Dayton Wright XG8 Mk2, Servo Stats, Many Soundlabs and many MLs.

FR graphs are way down on my list of what's important to me.

    Hi Scott!

Perhaps you are interested in my setup. A description and photos are at

Like you, I'm an old guy--even older, going on 85. My hearing cuts off at about 8.5K and my arthritic knees and back mean that I can't dig into the deep corner to fix my ailing subwoofer amp, so I am limited to the 40 Hz that I can extract from my ESLs. The positioning of my present ESLs is essentially the same as that of its predecessors, Quad 67s, ServoStaik 1s, and Aerius'. Imaging and sound staging are about right for my musical preferences, which are mostly classical as heard in an auditorium. If you are interested in ambience extraction, I would be happy to share my experiences with two mini-Canton speakers hidden away above my head. I can also share a quick-and-dirty FR graph of my speakers in my room.

    Best,

    Larry

No, that's a Caliburn, which is a $100,000 plus table plus arm and cart. That may well be my next cart though.

I have a VPI Classic Signature in rosewood.
