Today’s TVs are at once slimmer, larger, and more affordable than ever. However, while picture quality improves with each generation, audio typically lags far behind. Indeed, physics dictate that today’s flat-panel TVs cannot offer the audio fidelity that is achievable with even a basic Soundbar.
With an MSRP of $90, the Monoprice SB-100SW makes adding better center TV easy and affordable. The Soundbar’s two channels receive 30 W each, and the wireless subwoofer features a 60 W amplifier feeding a 5.25” driver. The slim design of the subwoofer makes it easy to slip it behind or underneath the couch and Monoprice lists a frequency response of 45 Hz to 20 kHz.
Surprisingly, the remote control is not the supercheap credit card variety. Rather, it is a proper candy bar remote with raised buttons that allow you to change the audio source, adjust EQ, tweak the volume, mute, and initiate Bluetooth pairing. Three different EQ presets are available, News, Movie and Music.
With its slim profile this soundbar will fit under most TVs.
