Yes I pointed my new to me contractors van west and drove 600 miles on Friday for my next project. But tragedy Struck, Read on!

Background the room was built some time ago, 12-10 by 22-2. Room within a room all around, new ceiling joists. Rubber underlay and Wood Sub-floor. THREE layers of 5/8 DW + GG on clips and channel. All this work was done by a local contractor. I flew out for a day in March of this year to meet with the contractors and discuss how to use the soundproofing products, we even got Ted White on the speaker phone to review the basic room plan and confirm the spacing of clips for the massive walls and ceiling.

Equipment is a treasure chest of goodies

Seaton catalyst 12c for the front 3.

JTR Orbit shifter LFU Sub

Procella P6V Surrounds x 6

SeymourAV Centerstage XD curved screen

Projector Undecided

in September Vikgrao asked for the basic layout service and a Basic design by Byrne and Erskine was developed based on an inspiration photo from a French company. later an Acoustical plan was developed by Dennis and a big shipment of 2 inch Quest panels, including four for the ceiling arrived.

What? you are asking is the tragedy? quite simply this morning my camera issued a fatal error message that let me know that if was not going to work without a repair. After some research I discovered that there is actually a service bulletin on the issue.

So today as we reviewed the plans, made a trip to Lowes for riser and stage framing lumber and started construction I had no way of documenting our progress. After work today I headed over to Sam's club and spent some of today's pay on a new camera. Tomorrow I will place catch up on the photos.

Preview, The stage will have curves, it's asymmetrical, Has two levels, and Rope light.

Fast forward a slew of completed theater pics.

Congrats to Vik on taking the next step towards completion of the room. It will be exciting to see all of that gear installed near the end.

Thank God you took care of that tragedy Big. So what camera did you get? I have a feeling I will be studying a lot of pictures taken by that camera.

Another day in Indiana, Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. On the camera, my camera which is exactly one year old is the Canon A100 it was pricey for a pocket camera when I bought it because of it's highly rated low light capability. MSRP $450. I snagged a Nikon s3300 off the shelf at Sam's for $88. plus $22 for a memory card. Reading the Canon service bulletin it sounds like I might be able to send it in for Free Repair.

Subscribed. Lets test the low light capability of that A100.

About the iphone thing. There is a huge difference in the camera between the ipone 4 and the iphone 4s. I have posted a few pics in my thread taken with my ipone 4 and they are sub par. But, then a few more I took with my wife's ipone 4s and it is night and day. It is pretty obvious in my thread which pics were taken with which.

On another note I am ready to step up to the iphone 5 as soon as I can bc of the camera. Those of us with children know how quickly that special moment comes and goes. If you go to get your camera the moment is gone. However, you almost always have your phone close by.

Camera works

Tools

Some big boards

Where we started this am

We have some plans, subject to modification.

We worked on the riser and stage today along with another supply run to get the sand ordered and picked up insulation etc.

the riser is all curves, curved seating, curved stairs

We worked on the stage but tomorrow it will be much more obvious about the shape to come.

this part was an interesting design

Glad someone worked out the details in advance, not glad it was complex

Forgot to post pictures of the wall construction. This is what you do when you like to play your subs at a level sufficient to shake the walls in your neighbors house that is over 100 yards away.

Photo's blurred out but I think I see box-in-box AND a clip+channel system (AND three layers of DW). I was under the impression that with a box-in-box you've decoupled sufficiently, making clips unnecessary; it's an either box-in-box or clips, not both. Can you explain the thinking behind this or are you just going with a "belt and braces" approach.

That room looks like it is going to have some really great design elements. BIG - you need some advertising on that van of yours.

LOL, you are not the first one who mention this! But Big has his (good) point too, you don't want to draw the wrong kind of attention when people saw big letter said "HOME THEATER" they would've thought, "Oh, expensive speakers/equipments inside!"
