Hi guys I'm new here just trying to figure out why my older PIONEER-VSX series receiver sounds much much better than my newer stuff I.e Harmon Kardon AVR 2600 and Denon AVR 1612 (lower end I know) I have calibrated via Auddysey even set the crossover freq manually and the sound is terrible...
  2. Receivers, Amps, and Processors
I'm a relative newcomer to high(er) end equipment. I'm getting a used set of Thiel C.5 (That's C-dot-5) and want to make sure I can drive them comfortably. I primarily listen from low to moderate levels for audio (smooth jazz, some light rock), but also want to have A/V capability for surround...

Well it's time.  My AVR 247 that I have always loved and used so much has died on me.  The problem is, there is no video output at all.  I can not get the OSD (for the AVR settings) to come up on my TV at all.  I know the TV is ok because I have tested my components (such as the DVD player)...

I have enclosed some pics of my room and equipment. Like others on here, I thought I would only need a power receptacle and an...

I'm in the market for a new receiver, I currently own the Onkyo 808 but the cost of repair after repair is getting to be too much. I'm so disappointed with Onkyo that I'm ready to jump ship! With that said, what do you experts recommend for me? My budget is around $600 but I may go up to $700...
  7. Receivers, Amps, and Processors
Disclaimer, i never had a decent audio equipment and i'm having a hard time to catch up with the terminology... I'm building an HTPC that will handle most of the video/audio inputs. I now need something to drive the speakers (cheapo 50w for now and a budget polk center, but plan to upgrade)...
  8. Remote Control Area
I'm currently using a Monster AVL-300 (Logitech Harmony 890 equivalent) with a RF/IR converter that has 4 IR output ports... it looks just like this: The equipment I have is a Harman-Kardon AVR-2600; a Verizon FiOS DVR made by Motorola; and a HP home theater PC. Each of these components has...
