1 music source, two full sets of speakers, two room setup?

975 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  HenryN
I find myself in near-accidental possession of two sets of speakers (both 5.1), 1 HK 247 receiver, and 1 basic audio source (Mac mini with iTunes, attached to the receiver.) Rather than sell the second set of speakers, I am interested in placing them in a second room to listen to the music on the Mac mini. Is this a reasonable thing to do and, if so, any guidance on how?

The room with the Mac mini and receiver was added to the exterior of the house and does not share an attic or crawl space, so it would be a real pain to pull wire to the other room. (50 year old house.)

Advice appreciated. If I missed the solution to this in another thread, my apologies.

AirPort Express Base Station with 802.11n and AirTunes in the second room with another amplifier would be the easiest solution I can think of if you don't want to run cables.

Thanks for the reply. I had pretty much reached the same conclusion, but I was hoping for a decent solution that wouldn't require me to buy another amplifier.
