What is more important...


Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA in the Onkyo 605 with adequate processing.


or


Denon 2308 with better VP but no dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA?


and why?


for me, sources are digital cable box, satelite box and htpc. Samsung 4696 and procinema 800 speakers.

That's like comparing apples and oranges



Video processing is not guaranteed to improve your video quality.


Bitstream TrueHD vs MPCM should be the same, does your player output MPCM? I assume that Denon is HDMI/MPCM compatible.


That leaves DTS-HD Master Audio. If your player can do bitstream, you may want a receiver that can decode it, because no current player can. That would give you maximum flexibility.


That all being said, there are probably more differences between those two receivers than video processing and decoding. If it was me, I would be taking a look at those differences too. You can live without DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, your player should be able to handle the core portion (supposedly it's just DTS) even if it can't decode the full lossless stream.
