Hello all,
My brother's a university student and money is VERY tight for him. I recently gave me my old Yamaha HTR-6930 5.1 receiver. It's your usual 5.1, DD5.1/DTS receiver with the typical speaker connectors on the back (the +/- cables for each surround, plus a port for a powered subwoofer).
While I did give him my old receiver, I am keeping my speakers. He's got a budget of $100 max (preferably less) for some speakers to accompany it. We both realize the quality of these speakers is not going to be the greatest, by any means, but he simply can't afford anything else right now.
We're mostly looking at PC speaker surround sets as they're much more affordable. Not all PC speakers have the necessary surround connectors (we need the +/- wires), but some do like the Altec Lansing VS3251. Is it possible to use those speakers and connect it to the receiver?
The only issues I see are: these are 4 Ohm speakers (not sure if the receiver supports these), and I'm not sure how/if the subwoofer can be connected to the receiver.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
