Hi Everyone

i just recently changed out my entire home theater.

I have an anthem AVM30 (just sold my anthem MCA 20 + 30), and im looking for a good amp to power my B&w 805S and htm4s.

I didn't like the sound of the anthem amps with my B&Ws, but i really like the mcintosh, classe, and rotel sound with B&W gear.

i haven't been able to listen to the rotel 1085 (100w class D ICE POWER) since noone carries demos of it, so i would have to buy it unheard, with an unforgiving return policy. but i have heard great things about class D amps and b&W gear. Anyone try this combo yet? how does it sound? Is it enough power? Basically im looking for something that sounds great is relatively inexpensive and a lot smaller footprint then something like a rotel 1095.

I am tempted by the rotel 1075 cause you can get a great deal on one used, but at twice the efficiency and a 3" tall device, it seems like the 1085 is the way to go.

I have a 1085 paired up with a combination of SCM1's and SCMs's for my surrounds. I think it sounds fantastic! I can't comment on how it would sound for these speakers with they were my LCR's, but I would go that route without thinking twice with 805s's!

bmott,

I have no experience with the Rotels but I have a NHT Power 5 which is Class D ICE Module based as well. The Power 5 is 200 watts @ 8ohms and it is fairly compact. There is one on a-gon now for under $1100.00. I am very happy with the Power 5 and it has no problem driving my Dynaudio Focus 140s (4ohm).

That's a great suggestion and value. bmott, if you're ready to buy you can't go wrong with the NHT at that price even new if you can find one, I think they're only about $1500. Kal Rubinson did a review of it and the Controller in Stereophile you can look up.
