Hey there,

I want to sound proof my ceiling in our 100yr house. We have tenants above us.

I started to read here but found so much info that I thought that maybe it is just best to ask...

I currently have 1/2" drywall connected to the wood floor joists above me. No insulation between joists. I would like to try and avoid taking down the existing ceiling...

Can anyone give me a few options of how to tackle this? Going from most intensive work to least?

Currently I thought (and this is by no means what I will do - I will hear and follow any good advice given here!) to blow in insulation into cavities of ceiling. Then either use acoustical caulk and screw to attach a second layer of 5/8 drywall directly to my existing ceiling or use those clips and channels...

What are my options?
