Got a 1030Q1 which takes about 50 tries before it finally kicks on. It then will stay on indefinately until I turn it off. Then the cycle repeats. Anyone know what the most obvious culprit or culprits might be? You press the "on" switch, the HV crackles for an instant, then it cuts off. I have a couple non-working 1031Qs which I can use to swap parts if the boards, etc. are compatable.

Check A: Solder connections, particularely in the power supply under the lenses, B: Bad capacitors IN the power supply under the lenses. If you cannot do this, try changing the power supply first.

Most likely there. Sony's are known to get bad connections in this area.

It definitely sounds like a power supply problem. I'm not sure if the 1031Q power supply is interchangeable with the 1030Q1 though.

A lot of subtle differences between a 1030 and 1031. I have a 1030q1 and a 1031q parts chassis. Was hoping to do some tweaks to the 1030... too many differences. However, I can repair power supplies. If needed.
