I've been running my 1031q at 540p from a Crystal Image processor (and 1080i from Satellite HD) and decided to try to hook up my laptop to the vga pass thru and see if there is anthing to this front projection pc'ing.

My question is what resolution should I set my lap to to, 640x480 or 800x600. I ask cause I know there is not a scan protection circuit on these units and I don't want to blow the projector.

I don't plan on switching to HTPC so we can avoid everyone's recommendation in that direction.

Thanks a bunch,

Jim

640x480

800x600 at standard 60hz is too high and can damage the pj.

Troy,

Thanks for the quick response.

Now then, is there a way to get rid of the squeeze that is occuring on my 16x9 screen?

Thanks,

Jim

Yep ,

-- get Powerstrip installed on that LapTop and set up 960 x 540 @ 59.94Hz , this will give you a 16:9 desktop to go along with your 16:9 screen .
