For Christmas I just purchased a new receiver (Yamaha RX-V667) to replace my older receiver (Sony ES-555).

I just noticed in a thread that there is someone having trouble going HDMI from his RX-V667 (1080p) to his TV (1080i)...I just checked and I also have an older Panasonic TV that runs 1080i...Am I stuck going analog for the video with this combo? I guess I will just test it when it shows up in 8 days or so unless someone already knows that I'll need to start reading threads on TV's

Thanks...

The source device (like a BR player,) should be "seeing" the abilities of the TV, not the receiver, and not sending signals which cannot be recognized. That's part of the HDMI spec.

HDMI issues are not uncommon, but I have not often heard of issues where it would not play 1080i properly, or try to send 1080p to a 1080i TV.
