Since D-ILA is available professionally at resolutions greater than 1080p, I was wondering when JVC and other companies are going to release 1080p D-ILA projectors for consumers. With growing amounts of 1080i material available , and the introduction of the incredible 1080i D-VHS it is apparent that consumers need to fully resolve 1920x1080.
What is the party line concensus on overall image quality on D-ILA vs DLP? Advantages and Disadvantages of DLP vs D-ILA? Future potential of improving and eliminating undesireable qualities of D-ILA vs DLP?
DLP is going to eliminate the rainbow effect with segmented, curved color wheel, which also runs faster...
I'm hoping Texas Instruments releases their 1080p DLP sooner than later. I think D-VHS and the continuing growth of HDTV programming/material will help significantly. It would be absolutely great if they would release the 1920 x 1080 DLP chip for CES 2003, but worst case scenario would be CES 2004.
After all, there is a ton of 1080i material coming out now, and digital projectors need to be able to fully resolve ALL HDTV. Give me a 1080p capable DLP with the curved/segmented color wheel, and other tweaks that will be available between now and then.
My next projector will be a 1080p digital projector, until then I'll live with my Dwin HD700 which is at least silent. Hopefully they will be able to make 'silent' 1080p DLP projectors.
