Howdy,

Are there any decent 12 or 16 channel amps that can be had for a decent price on the used market? I'm looking for something to couple with a matrix switch for whole house audio distribution (already have the switch, and its too late to go with a russound or nuvo solution). Any suggestions would be welcome.

I posted earlier about getting six 2-channel amps, but later realized that a single 12 (or 16) channel solution might more cost effective.

Thanks,

Target

Used ADA go for cheap, and are great amps. Some of the best for house distribution. They are very expensive new.

With that last product, will it work for the following situation:

I have a total of 13 speakers spread across 8 zones. Thus, three of the zones have a single speaker and 5 zones have stereo. Ignorring the fact that I'm one channel short right now, can I use this in conjunction with a matrix switch to be listing to three different songs in three different zones at the same time?

On the ADA, does that do more than I need? I'm really just looking for an amp, as I have the distribution covered with the switch.

Thanks,

Target

PS Would one of these do what I need it to do?

From what I can see, the Channel Vision amp offers a few more options for hookups in both the way the inputs and outputs go, than Xantech does that you linked to. Besides that, it also has a higher power output as well. Other than those differences, they look to be close to the same things. Also if you do a search, you can find the Channel Vision one for quite a bit less than what PartsExpress is selling it for. Even the place that is named after a well known river in South America, is selling for less, and they are not even the lowest price. But in their favor, they do also have a decent return policy.

You can download the manuals for both amps from their respective websites, and I would suggest doing so.

Also, here is the Channel Vison catalog, which also shows some possible hook-up diagrams.
