Has anyone ever noticed better sound quality by manually turning on an amp rather than using the 12 volt trigger.

Or just by leaving the amp on all the time - I have.

Can't say I have. Have you?
Well on two different occasions, which were several months apart I wanted to experiment to see if I would hear the same results. I played the same 30 second segment of well known song and switched back and forth between having the 12 volt trigger wire plugged in and not plugged in. I went back and forth about a half a dozen times with the same result-a more open, hovering spacial sound in favor of using the amp without the 12 volt trigger.
So, you're saying that the only difference was that the wire was not connected?
Yes Chu that was the only difference.
Sounds like something's wrong with your amp.
Well I think theres no problem with amp. It's not like just because I run the amp with the 12 volt trigger that its sounds bad, in fact it is still very good, but the subtle differences are there when I run the amp without the 12 volt trigger. It just seems like I get that extra 2% of performance if you know what I'm saying.

.

Anything under 20% is just your imagination

Could there be a groundng issue when he connects the 12 volt trigger, whether with his system - or as Joey would say his mind???
I doubt any any ground issue exists being my system exhibits no noise whatsoever. My mind on the the otherhand (nevermind - another forum perhaps). But thats why I'm saying the two tests were several months apart and I am perceiving the same results at two different times. Remember the the results are just subtle at best and not night and day. Thats why I posted in this specific forum because you guys own eqipment that the typical AVer does not. The final 5-10% performance gains of AV nirvana exists in the more expensive rigs.

BUCK.
So, what you're saying then is that disconnecting the wire creates a sense of unrealistic liveliness.
Clearly you have not tried one of the new, audiophile 12v trigger wires. At only $1,000 per meter these babies really open up the soundstage, improve imaging, and firm up the low end. They also come with a complimentary 2-night stay at the local rehab center.
S-U-B-T-L-E differences guys, not night and day. Have'nt you repositioned speakers before by a few inches and noticed subte changes and differences.

Just as a test why don't one of you power on your amp without the trigger and see if hear anything different, if you do -great, if you don't - great. I do not have a problem turning on my amp manually for the sake of my hearing's preference.
