I have a 1280x720p .TS file that I would like to convert to XviD, distribute, and allow friends to convert back to MPEG2 and burn to a standard DVD while still keeping the 16x9 widescreen resolution.

If I resize the 1280x720p to 852x480, will software such as DivXToDVD or WinAVI automatically use this resolution with minimal resizing?

Or, another way of asking is what resolution are the MPEG2's on a 16x9 widescreen DVD? Do they use something like 720x405?

Thx.

Anything HD you convert to DVD will end up 720x480. Why put Xvid into the chain?

PS: is that Manhattan Beach CA?

Because Xvid does sweeter job than divx. Its as close to dvd quality as possible.
