Hi all.

I'm about to change the green tube in my 1292, which seems quite easy.

However, should I remove the old tube WITH the electronics on it, or

slide it out of them, then sliding the new tube into the electronics?

I take it that it would be easier removing tube + elecs, then mounting them

on the new tube tube, before installing?

What do you think?

You take off the neck board before you pull it out.

Loosen the screw collar on the tube, then undo all the mounting screws on the front that hold the tube in place. Pull the tube out slightly and slide the neck board off leaving it in the machine.

Undo all the leads going to the coils and pull the HT lead out of the HV block. Then pull the whole tube out with all the coils intact on the neck.

This is easy, takes 5 mins maximum, and 8 minutes to put it back in again.

So you managed to get a green tube Nich. Can I ask how much you paid for it and what the condition of the tube is ?

I have another blue to sell. Slight wear visible on the screen but not through the tube face. No hard edges. About 2000 hrs

Did you still need one ??

Thanks Graham, it seems VERY easy on this machine.

I paid 536USD for it, with C-element and all. It's OK, but with a small wear

pattern. GOD, I wish they had made ALL CRT projectors with FIXED width!

My blue tube is in good condition, but with the same small area wear. Nothing criminal.

Graham, the plan is to sell the 1292, that's why I bought it non-working.

However, I really like the image from it, really, really like it, and I have

a soft-spot for it. Standing there on the floor between a small army of

Quee's. The wife will probably force me to install 9" in the Quee ultra

though.....

IF I am to sell the 1292, I almost can't afford to put more money into it.

But hit me:)

USD $600 plus $50 shipping . The tube is 8.5 out of 10.

It is a very wide wear area and fuzzy not hard edges. I would put it in a resell machine if I had one with a hard wear edge.

Quite good tube actually.

Why wouldnt you keep the 1292 if the Marquees you have are 8500's

IMO the 1292 is capable of a better picture ultimately. The real test is the setup. A proper 8-12 hour setup looks absolutely awesome when its finshed. It wont really shine till thats done

Yeah, but 9" tubes in an ultra would be quite cool. PLUS the wife loves

the Ultra in black!

Let me get back to you regarding the blue tube!
