12v Trigger for PJ and Hush Box Fans

512 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  cowbodude99
Hi there,
I was hoping someone can help me out.

I want to power on my PJ that sits in a hush box with 4 fans when the power button on my AVR (Denon x4300h) is on.

I haven't worked with 12v triggers, so I'm not really sure what is needed.

My concept:
Power on AVR >> Triggers via 3.5mm mono cable >> 12v relay (in port).

From the 12v relay out/load port 1, connect the PJ and the fans (4).

This is the relay I'm thinking of:
https://www.amazon.com/DZS-Elec-Cha...ements=p_72:2661618011&rnid=2661617011&sr=8-4

I haven't cut into the 3.5mm cable, so I am not sure how many wires are in there.

How would you wire this 12v trigger on the relay? Both, in and out?

Is there a different relay I should use?

See diagram, it may help explain what I'm trying to do!

Any help/guidance would be appreciated :)

Thank you!

Just an idea, you can get cooling fans with thermostats that will turn them on when the temperature gets to a certain point, then you wouldn't need to worry about triggering the fans as well as the projector.

Sorry I can't help directly with your question.

Thanks. I already have the fans I want to use. They're very quiet, and since I have them laying around, I figured I'd utilize them.

Also, I don't want the PJ to turn on, if the fans aren't on.
