Hello


I am trying to pick right screen size for my room. My seating will be at 15ft, screen will be 133" Dalite high power and projector Panny AX100 or something better if finance allow. This combo will put me at 1.5 screen width and likely be preety bright without SDE thanks to smoothscreen.


Still I am having some doubts is this to big, as I would like also to play videogames ( xbox360 and later ps3) on projector.


So I would like to gather some more information on 1.5 screen width for movies (esp. standard dvd) AND video games.


I can just play it safe and buy 106" but I dont wont to came back 6 mounths later and kick myself for not buying as big as possible and spend even more money.

I would go bigger than 106. Either 119 or 133.

I'd go even bigger than that. If I could I'd go upto or past 14' wide on a silver torus. I'm at about 110" with my CRT and I'd like to be at 10.5' minimum so my 2.35:1 content will be about the same height as my current 16:9 screen (54").


10.5' x 5.9' is the minimum I'd go if I had the AX100U.

Ok, so far I am leaning toward 133". Any trouble reading subtitles and following the action at 1.5×sw ?

I am at 135" at about 16ft and LOVE IT! XBOX360 at that size is a blast. Took a little getting used to but after one gaming sesion I could never go small again. Movies are great on it too.

As long as you can stay well within the veiwing cone of the HP you should be okay. My first row of seats are at 15' from a 133"D HP, and I do lose some of the gain, being that close. (angle is steeper) Tell us your PJ and seating numbers, meaning, eye distances from the lens, the angle back from the screen to the seating area, and your PJ angle to the lens.

That will determine if your going to get the benefit of the HP.

First option is proj. around 1ft behind and ~8" above my head. I would be on stand or 3.5ft back on put on backwall shelf again around 8" above. My eye level looking at screen would be around 0.7/3.


Projector will be last thing i buy thats way I cant test it myself on empty wall.


Anyone feel uncomfortable at following action in vid. games at 1.5×sw?

With the PJ only 8" above your head, you should get just about the full benefit of the HP.

As far as the feeling on action video games, you might be darting your eyes a lot at that distance. That might get uncomfortable.
