I have to say that I'm stunned by the difference in quality. The scan rate is a touch under 43kHz, so I imagine much of the increase in detail and sharpness has to do with getting just about within the 1270Q's maximum scan rate. 1440 wide still looks a LOT better than 1080.
Edit: OK, scan rate is low... RGB bandwidth is still 77.3MHz. I think Sony WAY underrated the electronics in this machine.
If you try it, just remember to uncheck "keep aspect ratio" or whatever the equivalent is in you player.
