If you had a choice would you get a Denon 1600 or a Panasonic RP82?

I prefer the extra menu features in the RP82 (or XP50) model - you can display remaining title time for example where you can't on the Denon. Also reportedly some Denon DVD-1600 models had the color flicker bug (CSS on) unless you got a firmware upgrade (don't know where you can get that) - but the Panasonics never had that problem.

I currently own the 1600 but previously owned the RP-82. In addition to the comments above

Build Quality > 1600 definitely better (less plastic more metal)

Compatiblity > RP82 (reads more formats incl DVD-RAM)

Digital Outputs > RP82 has both coax and optical, 1600 only optical

Screen Saver > 1600 has an all blue screen vs the blue DVD logo on the RP-82

Size > RP-82 is much slimmer

Price > RP-82 although some go pretty high on the used market

Color? black for the 1600, silver for the RP-82
