Hi,

After installing SP2 onto the cording computer, I am unable to grab my Transport Streams. Tried un-installing / re-installing AV/C Tape, JVC Tape Deck, etc., and even though the AVX-1 shows up in CapDVHS, when I go to record, it says something like "can't start capture". All the while, the AVX-1 screen is acting like the neurotic woman that it is, complaining and finicky about every slight thing going on (really annoying to watch). So - does anyone have some advice for me...I am assuming I need to uninstall everything, and change the order of my detected device installs, and also cancel out of one of the installs (if memory serves me). Just can't seem to figure it out, and I need this SP2, so removing it is a last resort.

Thanks in ADVANCE ;)

I do not capture my 169time recordings on a Windows XP SP2 PC. However, I understand that SP2 automatically installs its own AV/C Tape Recorder/Player driver, and that driver is NOT the JVC tape deck driver. If that is the case, the driver should be manually updated to the JVC deck driver.

Thanks Steve once again for your help. It was frustrating because even with the JVC Deck manually selected, (AVX-1 also showing up in my capture utilities), captures failed (frame grabber errors). I reverted to SP-1 (and got AVX-1 *properly* recognised, again), and managed to use a Sony DVHS driver for my new HDR-FX1 (and they said you needed SP2). Well, now I have both working without a hitch.

Capybara 320,

I still think that it's possible to get the avx-1 to work properly with SP2. I'll play around with it in the near future when I get a chance. In the meantime, enjoy that HDR-FX1. I've read that people are getting good HDR-FX1 captures on the PC with CapDVHS, but I wonder if DVHSTool will work also.

Steve,

Can't seem to get DVHSTool to init. properly (the Sony can be selected as device, but the Archive/Restore) are greyed out in both 21.20b1 & 2.13 mod. If you hear of anything, please let me know. I prefer CapDVHS anyway (because of its scheduling abilities), but I wish it had the file splitting function of DVHSTool.

HDTVtoMPEG2 (H2) can split TS files pretty easily (I use the 1.09 beta myself), but I have no idea how it would work with SONY HDR-FX1 files (m2t files?). Those files use Mpeg Audio as opposed to Dolby Digital for sound. Maybe H2 would split the files if you renamed the m2t files to TS.

Right, I use HDTVtoMPEG2 to split ts's as well, but I (still) wish CapDVHS, none the less, had the ability. I find any ver. of H2 to only be consistiently good for conversions & file splitting. As soon as you perform linear editing/cutting (like editing out commercials), you put yourself at risk for introducing A/V time stamp errors which Wizzywig's utility can not fix. But Manzanita could fix these, but if you are going that route, you probably aren't using H2 to begin with. The nice things about Cooleys app; it is free and easy (like some girls I used to know back in the 60's). Just kidding, I'm not *that old*! LOL;

Capybara 320,

It looks like various versions of Cineform software are the preferred PC editing solution for many HDR-FX1 owners. iMovie HD seems to look good for Mac owners, and is quite reasonably priced.

I assume these programs will work properly with the time stamps. If I were to buy the HDR-FX1, I would be happy with simple cut and paste editing that would play back without glitches on the MyHD card.

Please post your solutions when you figure out the best way to edit these recordings.
