I was hooked from the beginning when Erich started the original thread that evolved into the 1899. I had tossed the thought of a quad 1099 or 1299 around, but couldn't shake the 1899. Patzig's 1899 thread made me cave, lol. He has the only other build thread I am aware of, but it is buried with the diysoundgroup forum that is no longer accessible. I have added a link to his thread below. It is late and I am tired, so here are the baffles and some speaker porn for now, more to come. @Patzig thread:

Awesome! I'm happy to see another 1899 build. In that last photo, is there a chunk taken out of the rim of one of the woofers?

I knew the eagle eyes around here would not disappoint! Yes, that one was damaged in shipping. I am awaiting a replacement. Damn, I purposely placed it that way when I received them a month or so ago wondering how long it would go until someone caught it, hahah!

Hey, you could have at least said I wasn't the one that packaged/shipped those woofers! :D

Lol I haven't even gotten that far in the thread yet! I would guess 90% of the forum knows your packaging would survive being thrown into Grand Canyon, let alone giving 20 five year olds at xmas a run for their money unwrapping it! Heheh, Erich's packaging is something to behold fellas. If it is damaged in transit, it probably would never had made it any other way.

So about Erich's packaging. This is only some of what was packing the CDs, ports, mids, seos, etc. There was what seemed like 2 rolls worth of packing tape used holding all of the boxes everything together inside the main box as well lol. I was chuckling every minute it took to unwrap :D

Did I mention ports? I never thought I would get to the end of unwrapping each port from paper and package tape. You don't really think about how many there are until you receive them, 18 of them bastards haha....

Then I received the baffles, Erich left me details notes to be sure....

Unwrapping those was just as much of an adventure as I am sure it was for him to package it! It was so involved that totally forgot to take pics of it until the notes were about to be hauled outside. I have those big blue trash cans that the trucks latch onto to dump, the packaging pretty much filled it lol.

That said, I am not complaining one bit, everything from Erich arrived intact without issue. Keep doing what you do, Erich, it was fun unwrapping your presents :)

Now, the shipment from Parts Express on the other hand...

Their packaging had a lot to be desired, and the results show. There was nothing protecting the woofer other than the box flaps on the top. The bottom had expand type foam, that was it. I am surprise only one woofer was damaged. Erich needs to show em how it's done...

The drivers and speaker baffles are nice and all, but I'll take the shop and the toys in it over those items every day of the week that ends in "y".

Good luck with the build and have some fun ... subscribed

Awesome man!!! Can't wait to track this. I'm sure this build will be as immaculate as your work space. I always wondered what the horizontal orientation would look like...looks awesome! Good luck with everything, post lots of pics!

I posted final pictures of mine in my build thread. I can't add anymore posts, but I was able to edit post #2 :D
