The scaler forum discusses how difficult it is for scalers to do 1080i to 1080p deinterlacing "right". F5000, and newer products maybe not quite doing it "right". So how will the sharp and samsung 1920x1080p LCD panels pull off this 1080i to 1080p deinterlacing? Or will there be a lot of artifacts as the built in deinterlacing solution won't be up to the demands of HDTV deinterlacing, whether video or film based?

Sharp has a 1080i --> 1080p deinterlacing solution in their high-end video projectors. I think it's pretty good, but I'm really not sure.

Samsung must have something in the pipeline for the xHD3 RPTVs they are building.

If the stuff is film based, it's "easy" to do proper pulldown. For video-based stuff, that's hard and time will tell.
