I know it's a little obscure, but the first movie I looked at was Run Lola Run. And it looked awesome! In addition to the other upgrades, kudos to Sony for making the PS3 an upconverting DVD player!

I played King Kong as the first DVD to test the upscalling. It make the movie look simply badd assed!

I popped in LOTR and was not impressed. Please share your settings on the dvd scaler. I have 1080p monitor.

Haven't really watched either before and didn't really watch either this time.

The first dvd I put in was Die Hard it looked ok. Then I put in Band of Brothers , episode Day of Days, and all I thought was wow.

LOTR here as well. Did a before and after comparison and wasn't blown away. There were minute differences but it was nowhere near the "ahaaaa!" difference between Blu Ray and DVD.


Maybe my 46" (XBR3) LCD is too small to really show the difference upscaling makes or is it because of the quality of LOTR ?
