And I hate to be the newbie but I am in need of some help. I sought out and found this forum just to ask this question.

I am a looking to buy Mitsubishi 60 or 65 inch dlp hdtv. Either last year's models or more likley this year's newest models.

My question is this... is their any lag with these models when playing 360 games? And if so how bad? Would I be better off getting a plasma for gaming instead? This tv will be for watching NFL games in HD as well as gaming in HD fwiw.

If someone could point me in the right direction, either with a simple yes or no or with a link I would be very appreciative.

Seconded. Never had any problem with lag on any of my DLP based sets (I use my 360 on an LED based Samsung DLP model ATM).

However, I think the perception of lag is something that can vary from person to person. I've never noticed it personally, on any tv I've used. That's not to say you wouldn't however.

No, DLP's rock for gaming and sports. No motion blur or lag (not sure how a TV could institute lag but whatever). I have a 57 Tosh DLP and I love it for gaming.

The Mitsubishi's I was looking at don't utilize LED technology so do you think I will have a problem with gaming or watching NFL Games? I didn't get a definite yes or no in regards to non LED DLP HDTV's.

There aren't too many Samsung DLP's (LED) leftover online so I don't think that's an option.

Mine is NOT an LED. Most older DLP's are not LED. But either way, the DLPs will not have motion blur or lag.

I can confirm. I have a 56" and a 61" non-LED Samsung DLP and neither have any kind of lag with gaming or sports. DLPs are actually the best for avoiding lag.

you're not sure how a DLP could create display lag? really? my old dlp had quite a bit of display lag... but most people dont really notice.

anyone on here have any screenshots of something like the guitar hero calibration screen on a non-led DLP?

I had two lamp based DLP models prior to my LED set, and didn't notice an issue with them either. I think you'll be all set.

it'll also help quite a bit if you're sending close to native resolution to the DLP

My samsung HLS5086W does produce a little lag, but its only noticable in some games. Rythm/Music games have a calibration feature which allows you to see response time of your set. These are the types of games in which I notice it most. If I dont calibrate before playing, sometimes the notes dont go along with the beat and its VERY frustrating.

Also, if you play a lot of FPSs, you may notice the lag. I personally dont see it, but some of friends who are much better at FPSs, notice it right away when they come over. I enjoy my set, but will probably opt for plasma or LCD when I'm in the market for a TV again.

I play on a 110" DLP projector. no issues with LAG. I played on my parent's DLP set 50" and haven't experienced any issues. I play on my buddy's plasma and still no issues. LCDs give me the most problems.

See this is exactly what was worrying me. I play alot of FPS games and especially online. This is why I think I would be better off purchasing a smaller (50 inch) plasma instead of taking the chance with a larger (60-65 inch) dlp set.

I need a more input. I don't wanna spend $1300+ and feel be unhappy as soon as I start gaming. :/

I don't play music games so I can't comment on those. I mostly play FPS and the only lag I notice is from someone else's internet connection.

Will you have a 30 day return policy where you buy it?

no, and yes, but specifically i'm talking about the time it takes when you hit a button, until the time it takes when that action takes place on screen... call it display lag, call it video lag, call it whatever you want... but it's worst on DLP, especially if the DLP is doing any scaling.

go play on a CRT for a day or two, then go back to your DLP, you'll want to throw your DLP out of the window.

Hmm, I've never noticed but I've only had the xbox hooked up to the DLP.

Plus all mine goes through the AVR first too.
