Total Noob... I just want speakers that are better than the tv built ins... Can you recommend 2.0 setup for? Preferably ~$150 for the speakers. I am not sure I will go past 2.0 either. So a cheap receiver is fine by me. Please give suggestions

A pair of x-ls speakers go for around $250 shipped, about $100 more than the OP's budget. Also be aware the x-ls speakers are not magnetically shielded and so they cannot be placed close to a regular TV.
