The grading system is subjective. While I am at a single JTR Captivator 4000ULF with 4000W driving 2 18" drivers, I think I am at a A... I will be at A+ when I get my second 4000ULF...I'll be using the media aspects of the room 80+% for movies, and my wife and I are not audiophiles, but want to have a theater room that sounds solid, but don't need 'the best', 'the most', 'killer'... let's just call it more like B+, maybe A-.
In talking with SVS and HSU, they recommend a single PB3000 or VTF3-MK5, over two PB2000's or VTF2-MK5's, citing ability to add another later. So that is a big jump from my initial thoughts of dual 10's.
For my needs, would going to the 15"/13" drivers be overkill (when doubled), whereas I could just go with two of the PB2000's or VTF2-MK5's?
Edit: Would like to keep in the $750-$1100 range in the near term.
Thanks for your thoughts.
The PB3000 is $300 over your budget. The Hsu VTF3-MK5 gets recommended a lot because it is a 15" sub with tremendous output @ < $900.
