I have been tossing a few ideas around and I wanted to put them up here to get some feedback.
I am finding myself on the slippery slope of upgrading my HT/Audio set up.
I recently purchased a Harman Kardon AVR 247 and now want to upgrade amplification. For the price the video features of the 247 are pretty darn good and def beat most dedicated processors that are out right now.
My original idea was to add a 5 channel amp, perhaps a Rotel 1075 or 1095.
Now I am thinking that maybe a 2 or 3 channel amp would be enough. Just enough to add the sound I'm looking for during 2 channel listening but also good for HT use. The issue with the 3 channel is level matching the fronts for HT use.
With a 5 channel that of course wouldnt be an issue.
My listening habits were mostly HT, but now as I improve my equipment I am rediscovering my music and intend on the system being closer to 60 HT, 40 Audio.
I also really enjoy concerts on HDNet and plan on picking some of them up on DVD, examples: 3 doors down, matchbox twenty.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
If I go with the two channel set up, I would like to stay in the 300-400$ range (used probably)... the Rotel 5 channel is usually around $750 used.
I would like to get around 150WPC
