I have a new 4504 and am considering a drive upgrade. I am going to wait a couple of weeks, but wanted to get answers to two questions first.

1. Can you put 2 drives in this unit easily?

2. Can I use the original 40GB and buy an 80GB for a total of 120GB?

Thanks.

1) Yes but you will need to fabricate or buy a mout for the second drive

When you say buy a mount, do you mean the one that would come in a retail box, or something more custom?

Thanks

2. I don't think I'd bother for just adding a 40?

You're much better off with one large drive than 2 smaller ones. Less problems that way.

Get a 120 GB and use that?

The mount is custom. The mount that comes with a HD is meant for a computer, not a DVR. Of course, you can make your own mount cheap or buy the custom on the net for about $20 with the customer power cable.

I would do as KenL advised. Go with one larger drive and forget the 2-drive upgrade. Use the 40 GB in your computer.
